The Map

Captain Cool was not afraid when his ship was captured by the evil pirate, Captain Black, because he was very brave, frightened of no one and …….he knew where the treasure was buried!

An old pirate sea captain had stayed the night at an inn where Captain Cool was visiting with his neice and nephew Penny and Ben. They got to talking with the old man while they were eating their evening meal and the old pirate told them that as his sailing days were over he was giving away some of the things he'd been collecting during his seafaring years. He asked the children if they would like to choose something from his sailor's chest and of course the children said, "Yes please."

Ben chose a telescope and rushed over to the window to see what he could see. Penny chose a beautiful wooden box with a golden clasp. She wanted to keep all her secret treasures in it.

After the sailor had left the inn Penny and Ben opened the box. It wasn't empty. Inside they found a folded piece of paper. "My goodness, me hearties," exclaimed Captain Cool, "It's a treasure map. When we next set sail we'll have to see if we can find that island and locate the treasure." Little did they know that when they did set sail their ship would be captured by the evil Captain Black.

Captain Black was not a nice man. He looked very frightening with a peg leg, a gold earring, an evil glint in his eye and scars on his face (which he got while wrestling a coconut off a hostile, bewildered native).

The pirate ship was approaching Danger Island, a place that was marked on Captain Cool's map as the place where the treasure was buried. "Land ahoy, look sharp. Take the prisoners ashore, Redbeard, we'll take them with us to help us find the treasure." The pirates bundled the prisoners off the ship and on to the golden sands of the island. The sun was high in the sky and the air was hot and sticky. The cruel, greedy pirates were going to find the treasure for themselves and then leave their prisoners on the island.

       "Which way, Cap'n?"
