Elswick is a small rural community with a population of approximately 1200 people. It is situated half a mile to the south of Copp School. The village is beside the B5269, which is the Blackpool - Longridge road. Elswick is perhaps best known for Bonds ice cream which is made in the village. Elswick also has 2 pubs, a post office, newsagents, village hall and bowling club with all weather multi sports area, Elswick memorial church and several thriving small businesses. In 1996 Elswick was awarded Best New Entry in the Britain in Bloom competition and 1st prize for 'New Landscaping' in 1997. | |||||||||||||||||||
