Jayne writes about the litter pick:

"Ten pupils from our school (Copp School) and their parents went on the litter pick. We got some treasures they were old shoe parts, some broken bits of cars, a mug, 1p, two bottles and a glove! We got lots of cans and paper. We also got lots of litter and we wouldn't have gone on the litter pick without Mrs. Holloway! After the litter pick we got an ice-cream!"

A big thank you to the Community Help Team at HMP Kirkham for making 'Copp Stops' for our doors!

'Copp Stops'

Cycle Racks - Have been made.

Cans - These are sorted and crushed and sent for aluminium recycling. Aluminium cans have shiny bottoms.

Paper - School waste paper is collected for recycling. Some paper is shredded and sold for pet bedding.

Newspaper/magazines/holiday brochures - A big skip arrives on site each month to take away and recycle community newspaper. (Suspended during recession.)

A whacking great big skip.

Stamps - These are collected and are sent to friends of the local hospital who resell them and use the money for their work.

Fruit waste -  Children are only allowed fruit to eat at playtimes (good for them and solves any litter problem) and all the waste is put in our compost bins. The gardening team also put in their weeds.

Clothing - This is sorted and recycled via school and church. Unwanted textiles are collected for recycling regularly.

Adopt a Pot  - Individual children promise to look after a plant container for a year.

Gardening Team - Children keep playground and garden areas tidy by sweeping and weeding.

Litter Team - Children pick up stray litter around school. These children have been on a litter pick down Copp Lane.

The Litter Team on a litter pick.

Energy Team - Children turn off dripping taps and lights left on in classrooms. We are hoping to put solar panels on the roof of school.

Environmental News - This newsletter is now being produced with the help of parents and children on their own PCs.

Sun safety - All eco children stay clear of too much sun by wearing hats and sitting in the shade under our parasols or in our sunshelter.

Flags - Children raise and lower our Eco and School flags during Summer. They are proud to be associated with Copp Eco School.

Water - Water is collected from the school  roof for watering the plants.

Wild Area - This area is used for classwork.

Click here to visit the Wild Area page.

Bat boxes - These are sited in high trees.

Bird tables - Food is put out regularly for our bird population.

Plants - Trees, bulbs , shrubs and flowers are planted each year by children , friends and parents.
